Muslim teen awarded 4,000 over headscarf snub?

"Injury to feelings" seems like a cop-out. It was either unfair employment discrimination, or it wasn't. While normally I do believe that people should be able to wear scarves if they wish (or not wear them if they don't wish), a hair salon seems like a place that could legitimately be concerned about its stylists' appearance. (Likewise, a food service business would be justified in insisting that employees do cover their hair with a hairnet, even if the employees strongly prefer to be uncovered.) Even if some disagree, and find the salon owner's actions incorrect, surely "injury to feelings" is not the issue. It would be about loss of potential income, brought on by (if deemed so) illegal discrimination.
