What is a good personal printer?

I want a printer that prints as good as my $40 dollar HP PSC 1400 (which isn't asking for anything spectacular) but has ink cartridges that don't have to be refilled (for $30) bucks at least once a week. I now realize why they sell these printers for nothing. I've easily spent 500-700 bucks on cartridges for a $40 printer.
