Do women who think they are pregnant have a momentary lapse of reasoning?

Are they freaking out, or is it a type of bragging? When they ask "Could I be pregnant?" or "Am I prego?" over an internet forum? What I'm getting at is even if I was an Ob/Gyn I still believe I wouldn't have a clue if I was posed the question in this way or form.
