Senegal parrot scared of toys, how long should he be out a day?

he is old so it will be hard to chang him but one way is let him see you having fun with toys and shredding paper.place the toys on top of the cage for a couple of days.also take him away from the cage even if you have to towel him and stimulate Him to different objects they fear the Unknown till they know it will not kill them.
