Instense eye contact?

there is a guy (one of my neighbors) who has came over to visit the last few nights. We talk for hours on end. He seems really great overall. He has a 14 year old and a 4 year old. I have a 5 year old daughter and they love each other to pieces. I old him I thought he was cute. We get along really well. When he talks, he stares so deeply into my eyes. It's almost uncomfortable but at the same time it's like WOW!!! He has only dated a handful of people; but has already told me he really likes me. I aks him what he is thinking quite often when he's staring into my eyes so deeply. He usually says that he's singing a song in his head or thinking about the next day! That confuses me! Because we could almosd an entire night staring in each others eyes! So how could he be so distracted, or is he lying to me about what he's really thinking?
