Is sucbing to a general anaesthetic exactly what it will be like to die?

From my experience working in surgery, as a patient, and having experienced 'clinical death' more than I care to remember: yes. It is very much the same. I don't know what it is actually like to be "dead", because I've never crossed that line yet, but I do know what it is like to be so near it that it took an EEG to tell the difference. It is a very sobering experience, and one that I hope none of us will experience for a long time to come. The end may be painless, but getting there can be a b****. Have a nice day.
